Cough is caused due to infection of the throat and lungs. It is a symptom of another disease with no disease in itself.

CAUSES 

  • Tonsillitis (inflammation in the giltio)
  • Strep throat
  • Common cold
  • Laryngitis (Laryngitis)
  • Viral infection such as Chicken pox, Measles, Mononucleosis etc.
  • Whooping cough
  • Allergy (allergy)
  • Asthma
  • Chronic Bronchitis
  • Tuberculosis (Tuberculosis)

TYPES

There are usually three types of cough.
  1. Dry Cough (Dry cough)
  2. Moist Cough (Mucus cough)
  3. Whooping Cough
1.Dry Cough

Cough in the lungs is produced and dried due to excessive use and inadvertence of hot items.
  • This type of cough does not have sputum or a little mucous comes out on very cough.
  • There is a congestion in the patient's chest.
  • In this, both the levels of lungs are stuck somewhere and there is headache.
  • In this type of cough, voice of evening is heard.
  • Coughs arise frequently in this.
  • There is a lot of pain while coughing.

2.Moist Cough

 In this type of cough, the sputum relaxes and exits in large amounts. Usually, after one or two days of dry cough, there is a sensitivity in the mucous membrane of the respiratory system, which causes more mucus.

 3.Whooping Cough

Whooping Cough is an infectious disease. It is communicable in which Cough comes while coughing and the sound of "Whoop" is heard while breathing.

INSTRUCTION 

  • Treatment begins only after finding out the real causes of cough should do.
  • Light warm water should be drunk.
  • The patient should rest the bed.
  • Patient should not smoke and alcoholism Spicy and fried food should not be eaten.
  • Patient should take nutrition rich diet.

TREATMENT 

If Dry Cough

Syp Ascoril-D (Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, Phenylephrine Hydrochloride and Chlorpheniramine malate) One teaspoon morning and afternoon evening.
                                  OR
Syp Grilinctus (Guaifenesin, Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, Ammonium Chloride and Chlorpheniramine) One teaspoon morning and afternoon evening.
                                   OR
Syp Grilinctus-L (Levocloperastine Fendizoate) 1 table spoon morning afternoon.

If Moist Cough


Tab Grilinctus - BM (Terbutaline sulphate and Bromhexin hydrochoride) 1 tablet morning afternoon evening.

If Whooping Cough 


Syp Grilinctus-CD(Codeine Phosphate and Chlorpheniramine malate). 

With Them An Antibiotic


Cap Novamox 500 (Amoxycillin Trihydrate) a capsule morning 5 days.
                                     OR
Tab ELTOCIN 500 (Erythromycin Estolate) one tablet in the morning till 5 days in the evening.
                                     OR
Tab Levoflox 500 (Levofloxacin 500mg) 1 tablet morning and evening 5 days.
                                     OR
Tab 0dirox- 300 (Roxithromycin) 1 tablet daily for 5 days.

If Cold (century) or Bodyache and Fever


Tab SolvinCold (Paracetamol 500mg Phenylephrine + Hydrochloride and Chlorpheniramine 2mg)1 tablet can be given in the morning evening. But if cough is more sever then there is no control.

Inj Monocef 1gm (Ceftriaxone) should be given slowly from Shiramarga. morning evening.

Note- If you do not get rest even after doing all the appropriate treatment, then the following investigation should be done - Sputum AFB and Culture, Blood sugar, HIV test, X-ray, HB%, WBC, ESR.
